Member Benefits and Responsibilities

Membership in the Lambda Community, Inc. is open to any person 21 years or older who wants to support and improve life in an innovative community. As of 2009, the membership fee is $20 for an individual and $30 for a couple. Membership fees are paid to the Secretary/Treasurer and become part of general operating funds. Membership fees are pro-rated quarterly for the financial year of January 1st to December 31st. The LRC Inc., is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization. Membership fees are considered a donation and therefore tax emempt.

Each individual member has one vote. A couple may cast two separate votes.

    Advantages and responsibility of membership include:
  • To nominate and vote for officers of the Lambda Community, Inc. (see bylaws)
  • To vote for any issue determined by the Board of Directors that should be decided by vote of the general membership; and/or, to vote on an issue that is represented by a petition signed by more than 30% of the members' whose dues are current with the date of the petition.
  • Members of the Lambda Community, Inc. who join the community prior to and during 2007 may elect to put their name in a pool of names used to determine access to retirement housing and selection of housing sites. From January 1, 2008 priority of access to housing and housing sites will be determined by seniority of when the member joined the Lambda Community, Inc. with longest membership having priority over newer membership. The exact procedures will be developed by the Lambda Board of Directors.
  • Members will be given priority for news, information and opportunities involved in developing the facilities of the Lambda Community.
