The exact location of Lambda Retirement Community, Inc. has yet to be determined. A majority of the Board and Planning Council are from Austin, Texas therefore it is highly probable that either the city of Austin or a nearby community will become the geographic location of choice.

Austin has a lot of offer with three universities, a large and highly successful Community College, professional and technical schools of many kinds, a growing reputation for film and video production, many venues of dramatic representation and is considered by most professionals to be one of the big three Internet game design and production centers. Austin has strived to be the silicon valley of the East and points with pride to a highly trained work force plus such large technology companies as Dell, IBM, Motorola, Texas Instruments, Advance Micro Devices, and others.

Other factors of particular interest to Lambda include an extensive health care network of both secondary and tertiary hospitals. The Austin Heart Hospital and several centers for health rehabilitation can be of special interest to a population of retirees. Although traffic management has yet to keep up with population grown, the city itself is small enough (roughly a million, including nearby small towns) that access to health and other professionals is seldom a problem.

We anticipate that we will qualify for philanthropic support as soon as we receive our 501(C)3 status from the Internal Revenue Service. At that point funding will be sought to do a market survey and detailed analysis of prioritized needs. This kind of data will be useful in making a final determination of the kind of facilities we should plan for and to provide criteria for the exact location of the Lambda Retirement Community, Inc.
